Charlie Daniels Band / Niswonger Performing Arts Center / 7:30 PM

The 2010-2011 season gets started in a big way with one of the biggest names to grace the Niswonger stage - Charlie Daniels himself. Part Western and part southern, his music – rock, country, bluegrass, blues and gospel is quintessentially Southern. When you hear a classic Charlie Daneils Band performance like “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” you hear music that knows no clear genre. The same goes for “In America,” “Uneasy Rider,” “The South’s Gonna Do It,” “Long Haired Country Boy,” “Still in Saigon,” and more. Tickets on sale Friday, July 30.  For more information visit their web site at www.npacvw.org or call the box office at 419-238-6722.

Matt the Electrician Concert / Location TBA / 8 PM

Matt is an American original and is about everyone’s favorite Austin singer songwriter, in a city teaming with great singer songwriters. At the annual Austin Music Awards he was nominated for multiple awards including favorite artist, best live show, etc., etc., etc. The Electrician makes his music earthy and ethereal, and that's a hard trick to pull off. When you leave his show you will be asking yourself why it took you so long to discover his music.  For more information visit www.visionarypromotions..org

An Evening with Steven Kellogg / Niswonger Performing Arts Center / TBA

Steven Kellogg is a beloved author and illustrator who has contributed over 100 books for children, 30 of which he penned and illustrated himself. Kellogg fell into a love of writing and drawing at an early age and found any kind of animal story irresistible. Kellogg’s first book was published in 1967, and he started illustrating books for other children’s book authors in 1969. Steven Kellogg speaks of his writing and illustrations, “An awareness of movement is extremely important in the conception of a picture book. The characters seem to speak, cavort, and leap from the page so energetically that their life and movement are totally convincing. I try to blend illustrations and the words so that each book is a feast for the eye and ear. I want the time that the reader shares with me and my work to be an enjoyable experience - one that will encourage a lifetime of association with pictures, words, and books.” Kellogg will be demonstrating his talent of illustration as he visits with us in September.
